Le genre Valgus est caracterisé par le pygidium des femelles avec une tariere en forme de pointe et qui est dentelee en scie sur le dessus, par l'extremite du pygidium des males avec une touffe saillante de poils ecailleux fauves, par les tibias anterieurs avec 5 dents au bord externe dont les 1iere, 2 ieme et 5 ieme sont plus grandes, et enfin par le clypeus quadrangulaire un peu echancre au sommet.
Une seule espece est signalee du Levant: Valgus hemipterus Linnaeus, 1758 (Scarabaeus)

The genus Valgus Scriba, 1790, is characterized by the pygidium of the females with one drill which is notched out as a saw on the top, by the end of pygidium of the males with a projecting tuft of fawn-colored scaly hairs, by the protibiae with 5 teeth on the external edge of which 1st, 2nd and 5th are larger, and finally by the quadrangular clypeus indented at the top.
Only one species is currently recorded in Levant: Valgus hemipterus Linnaeus, 1758 (Scarabaeus)
